Let’s enter the conversation.
For this first week of class, I am asking that you listen to or watch Grace Ji-Sun Kim’s conversation with Tripp Fuller (of Homebrewed Christianity) on her podcast, Madang. Drs. Kim and Fuller are invested in this conversation on Christology from both a theoretical and praxis-oriented lens. Try to follow them through their bunny trails off course and note any ideas or concepts you wish to explore further.
I am asking you to read Alister McGrath’s rather long, but quite accessible, chapter on Christology in his Introduction to Christian Theology textbook. For those of you new to the discipline of theology–which I certainly was when I was an MATC!–I think you’ll find this text as a good “baseline.” If at any point in the term you feel lost in what your classmates or scholarly conversation partners are saying, return to this text for a refresher.
Finally, I’m asking that you complete the Learner Connectedness Survey so that I, Dr. Sawyer, can get to know you a bit better as a learner.
We’re jumping right in this week; I’m looking forward to getting to know you all as we adventure into this topic together. 😊
